DIY Arhaus Ottoman Upholstering

I’ve wanted a larger ottoman in our living room because our family uses this room alot. We love to make wood fires in the fireplace and so this is a cozy and warm spot for gathering. I spotted various plaid ottomans online that I wanted but all were in the $1500-$2K range, out of my budget.

We have a very nice sectional in our basement from Arhaus. It’s a large sectional that came with an ottoman. The ottoman rarely gets used because the sectional is more than enough room to sit. So, I decided lets reduce, reuse and recycle!

As I was browsing on Anthropologies’ website I saw this blanket that was just the Tartan plaid design I was looking for. I ordered it and figured well lets give reupholstering a shot. The blanket was only $127 so much less a financial risk.

Using my trusty staple gun I started on one side. I made sure the lines were all lined up symmetrically. Once one side was stapled I pulled very tightly to begin the other side. I cut off the fringe and then stapled the last two side. Once stapled I then folded the creases with the blanket in a mitered triangle shape making sure all four side were identical and then I stapled those triangle edges underneath. The whole thing came out better than expected! I love the new ottoman and now all of our feet have a cozy place to land while warming ourselves by the fire,
